In April 2007 the Newman Centre was sorry to bid farewell to Robert di Pede, whose hard work, enthusiasm, kind witness and delightful sense of humour have been a great blessing over the past two years. Now that Robert's internship with us is finished we wish him every success in his future endeavours. Grazie bene, Roberto!

Fr. Sylvain Normandin OMV, Chaplain
Fr Sylvain was born in Montreal. He spent a year serving in France with L'Arche where he lived with handicapped people, assisting them in their daily personal tasks and also working with them in a small workshop where they earned a small salary. It was here that Fr Sylvain discovered his calling and decided to enter the Oblates of the Virgin Mary (OMV) in Rome, which he joined in 1983. He was ordained to the priesthood in Montreal in 1990. His first assignments were in the diocese of Nicolet (Quebec) at the “Maison du Pardon”, a retreat house, and then in Paris as chaplain for “La Residence Universitaire Lanteri”, where from 1994 to 1996 he was a friend, spiritual guide and pastor to university students. Fr Sylvain has been back in Montreal since 1996 as assistant in the parishes of Notre-Dame-du-Perpetuel-Secours and St-Paul.
